A patient with multiple medical complications including bacterial pneumonia, post-surgical infections, and a nephrostomy experienced a profound near-death experience while severely ill in the hospital. Exhausted physically and emotionally from repeated hospitalizations, they felt "done" and experienced a sensation of falling asleep that transformed into sinking or falling forward, pressing against a membrane with diffused light on the other side.
Through the membrane, they sensed three beings - two closer on the right and one superior being on the left. Communication occurred instantaneously through unspoken questions and answers that arrived as complete understandings, as if remembering known truths. When asking if this was death, they received confirmation. Despite awareness of their hospital room and husband sitting with a friend, they expressed fear about leaving family behind but were assured everyone would be okay. The beings explained through complex understanding that while various events would occur in their loved ones' lives, earthly existence is brief and relatively insignificant in the eternal scope - comparing life to a movie that ends as one exits the theater into the real world. The other side of the membrane represented the REAL world, far more wonderful, complex and dimensional than earthly existence. They were told their family would join them before they could think about it. After joyfully submitting and feeling ready to cross over, they were forcefully shoved back with teeth-rattling intensity, returning crying and alerting their husband. They felt profoundly cheated and for years wished not to wake up, longing for death despite loving their family. The experience included subsequent spiritual communications and connections to larger reality that eventually faded, leaving them doubting but trying to trust the memory of absolute knowing.
