At age 15, while eating lunch with her 19-year-old sister, the experiencer tried to talk while swallowing thin crispy french fries without chewing. The potato lodged in her throat, causing excruciating pain "like swallowing a razor blade." Unable to bring it up or swallow it down, she stopped breathing. Her sister initially thought she was acting up, but when she began sliding off her chair in slow motion, her sister jumped up, caught her, and began screaming and slapping her face trying to revive her unconscious form.
During this time, the experiencer found herself in complete darkness, maintaining her identity but able to move in any direction effortlessly. She felt like "all eyes," seeing even behind herself. Feeling comfortable in the nothingness while waiting for something, she noticed a white dot and lazily floated toward it. While floating, she reflected on her life experiences, carrying the essence of everything lived, particularly distinguishing between experiences that brought happiness versus sadness. Approaching the growing white opening, she heard someone calling (likely her sister) but dismissed it as unrelated to her. She found herself between darkness and luxuriant white light made of rainbow colors yet easy on the eyes - warm, welcoming, and alive. She recognized it as herself, thinking "I'm Home" and "That's where I belong." As she reached to enter, she sensed a presence on her left - a man with brownish-fair curly hair, short beard, and pale blue-grey eyes. Though she knew his exact appearance, she never turned to look. He asked what she was doing there and challenged her presence, saying "It is not your time yet. You still have a lot of work to do." Though she wanted to argue using free will, she recognized his truth. She returned to her body, opening her eyes to see her sister "pulling her hair out" in distress. The chip was nearing her stomach, still painful but no longer important. The experience remained sacred to her for years, ultimately helping her recognize everyone's importance and purpose in life, influencing many people throughout her eventful life. She had distanced herself from religion a year before the experience.
