Living alone in Washington DC, the experiencer suffered from chronic bronchitis that doctors could not treat. Every night involved severe coughing and wheezing before sleep. One night, the person apparently stopped breathing altogether while asleep. Without any tunnel or transition, they found themselves in a different realm consisting entirely of light, sound, joy and bliss.
The realm contained beings of pulsing colored light without human shape, more like oval or round pulsing loci of light with no sharp outlines. Everything gently blended together. The beings were creating indescribable music full of joy and praise for God. The experiencer became made of music, light and joy, filled with bliss and feeling "at home" for the first time ever. Everything was instantly self-evident - turning awareness to anything brought immediate understanding with no time delay. They experienced freedom in time and space. During a brief abbreviated life review, they knew they had much work to do on earth, particularly with family relationships. Looking down, they saw a shimmering grey silk cord connecting to their body far below in a dark, foggy place. They jumped back into their body and spent 10-20 minutes coughing and clearing breathing passages. After the experience, they found a Rolfer, received treatment, and the bronchitis cleared completely. They became more adventurous, moving often and having more frequent and deeper spiritual experiences.
