On April 19, 2007, the subject walked into a closed sliding glass door at a restaurant patio, hitting face-first with tremendous force that caused severe facial injuries including a large forehead lump, facial cuts, and suspected broken nose. After turning to slide down the glass, she was placed in a chair where she vomited, sweated, and lost consciousness for approximately eight minutes. Her friend reported she sat slumped with eyes wide open, not blinking, with glassy eyes and extremely shallow breathing. They had to hold her head back to prevent it from falling forward, and at one point neither the friend nor a helping woman could find her pulse. During this time, she experienced standing on a beautiful hill covered in wild yellow and white daisies and tall green grass under a bright blue cloudless sky. An incredibly bright, oversized sun to her right took up almost a third of her field of vision. She wore a beautiful bright pleated dress with yellow and white daisies matching the hillside setting. Her hands looked younger and thinner, and she couldn't see her bare feet in the tall grass. White fluffy dandelion seeds floated everywhere in the air. She felt extreme happiness, contentment, and freedom - the happiest she had ever been. She heard distant voices but wanted to stay in this beautiful place. When she questioned why the sun was so large and bright, she was suddenly lifted back, experiencing intense pain as paramedics worked on her. They noted very low blood pressure and administered oxygen. She became fully aware while being wheeled through the hospital. The experience left her wondering if the bright oversized sun was the light people describe in NDEs.
