The experiencer awoke in a hospital bed 38 years ago (1979) after a Caesarean Section, stunned by an unbelievable experience. Though they tried keeping the memory alive, details faded over the years. They remember flying at great speed down a spiral tunnel with a siren-like noise "oing-oing-oing," rising and falling. At the tunnel's end, unbearable pain suddenly began. Unable to escape it, they pleaded with God to take it away. Just when realizing with horror they couldn't take anymore, they were in bright white light, knowing they were in God's presence. No landscape or people were visible, just light and an overwhelming sense of peace, love, and unity. Everything made sense and they felt every atom of themselves being loved - it was ecstasy. They realized this had nothing to do with religion, which was inapplicable. They now think they were in a kind of purgatory, though words are useless. They were sorry to wake up and have tried recreating details through meditation. Death no longer causes fear; they look forward to being with God again. When they tried telling their husband, he paid little attention. Words were totally inadequate. Years later, discussing it with spiritual friends in northern Scotland, the husband asked why they never told him. They replied they thought he'd find it embarrassing, which he confirmed was right. Others didn't want to hear, so they stopped telling anyone, as there was no knowledge of NDEs then. Years later when ill with cancer, they recovered through surgery and treatment, simply thanking God for sparing them. They wonder about life and death daily, believing love is central, trying to love everyone including those they dislike, praying multiple times daily for everyone and the world.
