The experiencer had two OBEs within one year as a teenager with undiagnosed sleep apnea, later confirmed to stop breathing for over a minute at times. First experience: While asleep, left body, floated up through ceiling and roof to 200-300 feet altitude, traveled southwest rapidly, and hovered over a cow barn and farmhouse. Two years later, began attending a charismatic church in a remodeled cow barn matching exactly what was seen in the OBE. Second experience at age 17 in 1976: Came home exhausted from a band gig, fell asleep, and at 3 AM felt paralyzed with loud buzzing and rushing sounds like Niagara Falls. Found himself floating 4-5 feet above his body in a wispy grayish-white energy form. Saw his physical body still and lifeless on the bed despite darkness. Could control movement by thought. Floated through walls to brother's room (special needs), tried unsuccessfully to wake him - hands met resistance like magnetic fields. Floated to parents' room, did a somersault 6 feet high, but they couldn't see or hear him either. Fear of being permanently separated from physical world caused violent return to body, waking gasping for air with pounding heart. This initiated a spiritual journey: first exploring Zen Buddhism, then dating a Baptist girl, visiting a Benedictine monastery where he experienced God's presence, converted to Christianity, and later attended the prophetically-seen barn church for 4-5 years. Sleep study years later revealed severe obstructive sleep apnea with breathing cessations over one minute long, explaining the OBEs as possible death experiences.
