Jeffrey, age 13, was playing street baseball on Mother's Day in May 1961 when a bat slipped from the batter's hands and struck him in the forehead while he leaned against a telephone pole. The impact caused severe head trauma with front and rear damage, displacing one eye and caving in his forehead. He experienced immediate disorientation with a loud humming noise and blackness.
During his out-of-body experience, Jeffrey observed himself lying on the road with arms stretched upward while his friends gathered around him. He watched from above the telephone pole as his friend John ran to get his parents, tracking him through multiple streets from increasingly higher vantage points. He rose to the height of a 10-story building, observing rooftops and distant landmarks including a church four blocks away. He heard and saw an ambulance approaching from a distance, its path obscured initially by buildings. Jeffrey heard his mother repeatedly saying "Jeffrey, please don't die," which drew his attention back to the scene below. A brilliant light appeared with an angel who gestured for him to look at the people crying for him not to die. When placed on the stretcher, he returned to his body saying "Don't worry mom, I am not going to die." He remained in a coma for 32 days, underwent brain surgery with experimental medicine from France, and experienced significant growth during recovery. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience includes classic biblical elements: out-of-body experience with aerial perspective, encountering an angelic being in brilliant light, and being given a choice to return. The angel's role as guide and the brilliant light are consistent with biblical descriptions of divine messengers and God's glory. The return to comfort his grieving mother shows compassion aligned with biblical values. Unbiblical elements: None identified. The experience maintains biblical consistency with traditional angel encounters and divine light imagery.
