An individual experienced two near-death episodes within weeks of each other, each with distinctly different characteristics. The first occurred during a violent assault when an ex-boyfriend attacked outside their residence. He knocked them to the ground and sat on them, choking with both hands wrapped tightly around their neck, cutting off oxygen. During the strangulation, they felt themselves floating slowly upward toward clouds as everything became bright.
They heard caring voices filled with love and comfort, reassuring them that the attacker could no longer hurt them. The experience felt euphoric with perfect peace. While floating away, they looked down and could see both their body below and the back of their attacker. The sensation ended abruptly as they fell instantaneously back into their body and began gasping for air. Upon recovery, they noticed small bruises on their neck and broken blood vessels in both eyes. Despite the violent circumstances, the NDE itself was pleasant and peaceful. The second NDE occurred shortly after when they were electrocuted through their fingertips while typing on a keyboard. The electrical shock threw them off their chair across the room. This experience was markedly different - featuring complete darkness rather than light, accompanied by their own screaming and groaning. Upon recovery, they felt very scared, shivering, and noticed the smell of something burning, likely from their own body. The contrast between the two experiences was stark: the first brought peace, light, and loving voices despite violent circumstances, while the second brought darkness, fear, and distressing sounds despite being an accident. They found the second experience particularly disturbing and prefer not to remember it, highlighting how NDEs can vary dramatically even for the same person.
