In September 2009, after jogging, Anke's loose sports clothing caught fire from the fireplace. The synthetic fabric caused flames to climb rapidly, igniting her jacket. When flames reached her face and hair, cutting off air, she experienced an "aha moment" realizing she was dying. She felt no pain or fear, only acceptance. Her consciousness separated from her body, observing it torkeling with arms flailing from an external perspective. Her 14-year-old son appeared, tackled the burning body, and extinguished flames with a carpet. She observed neutrally as paramedics arrived and the rescue helicopter landed. In the helicopter and hospital, she watched medical staff work on her body while no one could perceive her presence. Her body lay in intensive care, bandaged completely except for a mouth opening with tubes. A large luminous male figure appeared, telling her she wasn't dead and would receive answers. He taught her about consciousness, soul integration, and how the physical body serves as a vessel for experience in duality. She experienced unconditional love and learned that time doesn't exist - everything happens simultaneously. Given the choice to return or depart, she chose to consciously say "yes" to her body and life. She merged back with her body feeling profound gratitude. Eight years later, she maintains both human consciousness and the soul's unconditional perspective simultaneously, living without fear of death or pain.
