At nearly four years old in Canoga Park, California, the experiencer repeatedly asked his father to go swimming. His father, watching TV, finally said "oh all right, leave me alone." Taking this as permission, the child put on his suit and climbed into their above-ground pool. The water level was too low to reach the rim from inside, with no interior ladder, trapping him. He had to constantly swim to breathe, yelling for help from every location with no one hearing. After conserving energy by standing and surfacing for air, he yelled "God anybody please help me" before going under.
A clear voice told him "take a deep breath" and when he surfaced for air, it said "No, take a deep breath under water!" The voice said "Trust me" when he thought he couldn't. After taking a breath of water and feeling its heaviness entering his lungs, he was looking down at the pool, house, and yard. He was turned to face a bright white yet highly colored loving light with hundreds of thousands of silhouetted people between him and the source. Twelve people plus one special person met him at a wall of fog/droplets that bounced off each other, extending into darkness. He extended his arms through the wall but the special person pushed them back saying "Go back you have something to do." Despite wanting to stay, he saw his body in the ambulance with a man (his father) crouched beside him saying "God please don't let him die." His mother arrived as they opened the ambulance doors, and he said "hi mommy!" - his last understandable words for years. His father found him on the pool bottom after feeling/hearing the word "pool" hit him. Paramedics attempted resuscitation for over 15 minutes without signs of life before his father climbed in the ambulance where he started choking/breathing. The experience left him unable to speak clearly until 8th grade. Rules were imprinted including: suicide is wrong, God exists and energy doesn't die, evil forces are real, he has not lived before but must get it right the first time, and God is always around. He identifies the plus-one figure as Jesus after hearing similar accounts. The experience prevented illegal and hurtful actions throughout his life.
