In 1998, the experiencer didn't know she was pregnant when she was kneed in the stomach by her former husband. She had an ectopic pregnancy and was rushed to the hospital in searing pain, screaming in emergency. She exploded from every orifice and her blood pressure dropped dramatically. She was being asphyxiated by 2.5 liters of blood in her abdomen that crushed her lungs, preventing movement.
Her brain took her on a "pain journey" where she visited a huge brown paddock with a miniature mythical Greek creature who identified himself as "death, my only friend." Doctors slapped her awake to tell her they were taking her to emergency surgery. On the operating table, she pulled off the mask to shout "everybody do a great job!" before going under for three hours that felt like three thousand years. On the "other side," she raced down a dark tunnel, unable to see the sides but knowing it was there. She was falling fast but traveling straight ahead, scared at first but then slowing down. At that moment she knew the answers to everything. She was surrounded by loving spirits appearing as blue lights who knew everything about her yet accepted and loved her, wanting to protect her. A big blue light with white around it approached, loving her completely and cradling her feelings. It wanted her to cross the space between them and she felt pulled like a magnet. She woke up two days later in ICU, opening her left eye to see a butterfly and initially thinking she was dead in heaven. It took time to accept she was alive again. The experience no longer affects her as it once did, causing some guilt about this diminished impact.
