Jean was undergoing minor hand surgery in January 2003 when she experienced an anesthetic accident on the operating table. Despite being sedated with mask and injection, she remained aware and heard medical staff begin to panic about her condition. She realized she was dead when she could no longer hear with her physical ears but continued to perceive sounds.
Jean experienced floating in darkness without visual sensation, feeling detached from the medical agitation below. She encountered what she calls a "collective mind" containing all the good of humanity, which showed her a life review revealing that her life had been governed by selfishness. This spirit then projected her 15-20 years into the future, showing her the lives of those around her as they would be without her presence. The spirit communicated that she was being given a second chance to do good and sent her back with the mission to guide her son until adulthood. She was given understanding of the true meaning of "doing good." When Jean awakened on the operating table, two hours had passed but the surgery had not yet been performed. She then fell asleep again and woke up after the operation was completed. The experience profoundly changed her understanding of life's purpose and the importance of selfless service to others. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience contains several elements consistent with biblical accounts including separation from the body, encountering a spiritual presence that could be interpreted as divine, receiving a life review showing moral failings (selfishness), being given a second chance (grace/redemption), and receiving a specific mission to care for her child. The concept of doing good aligns with biblical teachings about righteousness and service to others. Unbiblical elements: The concept of a "collective mind" containing all the good of humanity diverges from traditional biblical theology which emphasizes a personal God rather than a collective consciousness. The projection into the future showing life without her presence is not a typical biblical element, though prophetic visions do appear in scripture.
