At age 11, the experiencer was walking home from school when they stepped out in front of a car and were struck on their bottom. The impact propelled them through the air, and while airborne, they had the conscious thought "this will hurt" as they fell toward earth. Surprisingly, they felt no pain upon landing. When their head hit the ground, they heard a distinct "crack" sound and were suddenly pulled rapidly upward out of their body.
The experiencer found themselves standing before a remarkably beautiful woman who appeared to be in her thirties. Through some form of direct knowing, they understood this woman was actually hundreds of years old, though they could not explain how they possessed this knowledge. This suggests a form of telepathic or intuitive communication common in near-death experiences where information is received directly without verbal communication. Between the experiencer and this beautiful woman stood a hedge containing extraordinary flowers in colors they had never seen before in earthly existence. These flowers were described as huge and displayed colors beyond the normal visible spectrum. This hedge served as a boundary that the experiencer was not permitted to cross. The woman communicated that the experiencer had to go back and that they had work to do in their earthly life. The experiencer felt unhappy about being told to return, experiencing total peace in this realm with no wish to go back. They had no thoughts about who or what they had left behind in the physical world. Suddenly, without transition, they found themselves lying on the ground with their head hurting badly and people gathered around them. The rapid transition from the peaceful otherworldly realm to the painful physical reality marked the end of their near-death experience.
