The experiencer had recently been diagnosed with diabetes and started on Glucophage and Lipitor medications. Five days after beginning these medications, they suffered catastrophic organ failure involving the liver, heart, and kidneys. Their husband found them near death and turning blue in their bedroom, prompting an emergency 911 call. Though conscious initially, the experiencer could not hear or speak and was taken to the nearest hospital where they entered a coma lasting eight days.
During the coma, the experiencer found themselves waiting in a dark, warm, and moist place where they felt incredible peace and joy. A man in a blue shirt appeared and lifted them up, though they had no awareness of having a body. They departed together on a misty bright path. As they progressed along this path, both the being and the path itself became progressively brighter. The being grew larger and more filled with light the further they traveled. They passed through what was described as a void area "where there was no God," yet the path and the being continued to grow brighter even in this space. Eventually they reached an area with what appeared to be three entrances to a wonderful place. However, the experiencer was given to understand that their place there was not ready yet and they had to return to their body. The return to the physical body was marked by the worst pain they had ever experienced. The contrast between the peace and joy of the spiritual realm and the pain of physical existence was profound. The experiencer states they are no longer afraid to die, understanding that there is no pain in dying itself, and expresses eagerness for when their time comes to return permanently.
