A high school student visiting her brother in Houston during spring break 1985-86 collapsed at a restaurant after spending the day at the beach, visiting a comedy club with two-drink minimum, and eating late. She passed out just before eating soup, her head hitting the table. An ambulance was called.
While unconscious, she found herself laying on her back in darkness with an extremely loud din of voices above her. She couldn't distinguish individual words from the cacophony. The voices seemed to peer over an invisible hole's edge, surrounding a circle with possible dim light inside. The voices were overwhelming in volume and number, creating a lasting impression. Finally, a single voice declared to the others: "It's not her time," and the voices faded. She woke to find her panicked brother and EMT personnel kneeling beside her. When she asked her brother if many people had been talking loudly above her, he said it was just him and the EMT in quiet conditions. Her brother was shaken when she revealed what the voices said about it not being her time. She hadn't categorized this as a near-death experience until recently, now believing it was a "potential NDE" involving spiritual beings determining her fate.
