One week before her NDE, Laura had a prophetic dream of walking by a crystal-clear river with a bridge and glowing city in the distance, where a dwarf-like man on a raft told her they would meet soon. A week later, while driving home after midnight on icy roads, she slid past a stop sign and lost consciousness. She found herself in a mid-century waiting room with windows overlooking clouds and colors. She explored and found rooms with people, including one that seemed like Janis Joplin. Then hundreds of people her age walked from the clouds, including a deceased high school friend who pointed to her grandfather. They walked together by the same river from her dream, with her grandfather telling her about her future sons and life purpose via telepathy. The dwarf-like guide reappeared, confirming he was her guide and conveying important information she couldn't fully recall except understanding she had to return. She awoke in her car with significant blood loss from biting through her lip, having broken through ice into a shallow lake. Despite the severe accident with shattered windows and massive blood loss that should have been fatal, she survived due to sub-zero temperatures. The police officer who met her later cried, unable to believe she lived. A week after the accident, she had the same prophetic dream again.
