During an emergency c-section, Jen experienced a cardiac arrest with no heartbeat for a period. While clinically dead, she found herself in a bright white room filled with intense light that felt like being in a long white room with all lights turned on. She encountered shadows of beings and met someone who identified herself as her grandmother (though all her grandmothers were alive at the time). The grandmother told her "Time is different here" and that she had something important to do and could not stay. Jen was initially holding her baby but noticed the baby was gone when her grandmother spoke. The experience involved moving from darkness to white light to yellow light, with overwhelming feelings of love and peace. Jen had similar NDEs in childhood - once during a car accident at age 7-8 where she floated above the scene observing details she couldn't have known, and another during a severe fever where beings identifying as "sort of" Jesus and Mary gave her messages about everyone having a purpose like ripples in a pond. Upon return, Jen found her daughter had also briefly flatlined but was revived before her. The surgery that should have taken minutes lasted over 4 hours.
