Terence, experiencing chest pain on Christmas Eve 2015, delayed seeking help until reaching the hospital at 11:45pm. After initial ECG showed nothing wrong, he was moved for X-rays when he suddenly experienced 15 minutes of clinical death from myocardial infarction with two broken ribs from resuscitation. During cardiac arrest, he experienced brilliant golden light reflecting from seamless golden clouds with ecstasy, bliss, and perfect peace beyond description. No thoughts intruded on this sublime awareness, with no sense of "I" having the experience - time ceased to exist as if it stopped when the brain shut down. He was resuscitated by phone-directed emergency staff using powerful infusions over three hours, remembering beautiful golden light visions. For six days afterward in the Coronary Care Unit, he experienced absence of self-preoccupation, emanating love from every pore, attracting young nurses who sensed universal divine love he brought back. His ego temporarily "died" with no fear of death remaining. The experience led him to reject all organized religion, seeing duality as ignorance, pursuing non-dual spirituality through Advaita Vedanta and studying consciousness as the ontological primitive. He interprets his NDE as temporary brain shutdown revealing pure awareness that underlies all conscious experience.
