During a problematic labor lasting over 24 hours, Tamara underwent an emergency C-section when the baby's vitals became critical. The surgery began before proper numbing, causing her to scream in pain, then her blood pressure dropped. She felt herself leave her body and observed the operating room from above, seeing everyone in the room and the other side of the drape where surgery was happening. She told the anesthesiologist "I'm leaving," which her husband heard. The anesthesiologist scrambled and injected something, with her husband reporting they slammed a hypo needle into her leg, bringing her back to her body. Her daughter was born with an Apgar score of 2, requiring resuscitation and removal of bile from her throat. Tamara needed a blood transfusion for blood loss. During the OBE, she experienced only visual perception without sound, like watching TV with sound off, seeing the entire room in slow motion. She felt calm, aware, peaceful, and experienced unity with the world. The experience changed her beliefs from traditional Christian heaven concepts to believing in soul continuation and reincarnation, though she maintains Christian identity.
