Stacey RS, age 19, experienced a near-death event in 1995 during a severe case of meningitis. After feeling ill from dieting, she unusually asked to stay with her parents. Her mother, who worked 35 minutes away, had a "weird feeling" and came home just as Stacey collapsed while walking to her bedroom. At the emergency room, she experienced word salad speech and lost consciousness. She floated to the corner ceiling of the room, observing her mother crying with another woman by the door. After 8+ hours of unconsciousness, she found herself as a little girl in a field of beautiful flowers with radiant light. She was swinging with her sister (who was and remains alive) in a scene reminiscent of a beloved childhood park. The light was described as pearly white and all-encompassing, bringing incredible peace she had never experienced despite her history of severe abuse. Her still-living father appeared looking down on them. No words were spoken, but complete understanding existed. Upon return, she immediately tried to leave the hospital, pulling out her catheter and IVs. The experience was particularly remarkable given her severely abusive childhood and distant relationship with her sister, yet in the NDE they were extremely close. The event catalyzed major life changes - she bought a plane ticket and moved to Guam for two years, developing a lasting attraction to islands. The experience provided her with a sense of being watched over and protected, transforming her perspective from an abuse survivor to someone who experiences profound peace and divine love.
