Sam B, a 14-year-old male, experienced a near-death event in March 2017 after misusing compressed air duster for inhalation. After taking two large breaths from the can while sitting on his bed, he lost consciousness and experienced a profound out-of-body experience. Sam found himself floating in the corner ceiling of his bedroom, observing his unconscious body slumped over on the bed in perfect detail. He could see the air duster can on the floor and his motionless form exactly as it was positioned. Time seemed to stand still during the experience, and he felt completely at peace without any fear. He had conscious awareness to think "Wow, I'm looking at myself. What the hell?" The experience felt entirely real, with Sam able to observe his room including his computer screen showing the game he had been playing. After what felt like an extended period but was likely 3-7 minutes, he was suddenly pulled back into his body. Upon returning, everything in his room was exactly as he had seen it from his floating perspective. The experience left him with lasting questions about consciousness, the afterlife, and the nature of reality, contributing to his eventual shift from Baptist Christianity to agnosticism.
