Damon H suffered from atrial fibrillation and dilated cardiomyopathy, nearly dying in January 2021 with blood pressure 197/149 and heart rate 248. On September 21, 2021, he underwent DC cardioversion under general anesthesia to reset his heart rhythm. After the anesthetist counted down from 10 (reaching 6), he lost consciousness and awoke in a black void like space without stars. A jackpot machine-wheel appeared on his left, turning slowly with about 7 pictures, stopping on a beautiful summer sky with deep blue and fluffy white clouds. Instantly transported there without transition, he found himself drifting forward in a desert of blue sky and white clouds, wrapped in unprecedented love and golden sunshine-like light. A semi-circle of featureless white silhouettes in long white robes approached as he drifted toward them with an overwhelming sense of purpose and pure love. Just as he was about to discover something important, he was snatched back like reaching the end of a 500-foot bungee cord. He woke instantly feeling recharged, upset with the anesthetist for bringing him back. The experience changed his life completely - he now prays daily, thinks carefully before acting, and spent weekends recreating what he saw. He knows what awaits at the end and has no fear of death.
