At age 13, Orlando was playing with a bike trying to do a wheelie when he lost control, hit the curb, and crashed to the ground. His mother was talking to a neighbor about 7 meters away. After the fall, Orlando experienced extraordinary perceptions - he saw himself from all angles simultaneously, through the eyes of bus passengers who passed by, from above like the sky, through his mother's eyes, and from every imaginable viewpoint. Though unconscious for only 3-5 minutes, he felt an absence of time that could have been eternity. He was surrounded by a warm white light that emanated incredible peace, far beyond anything he'd known. He saw his life flash before him as snapshot photographs against this light. Throughout the experience, he felt overwhelming tranquility and happiness about dying, with no fear despite his mother watching. A man in a white shirt appeared behind him, squeezing his chest and moving him like a puppet, enabling him to breathe again. Orlando could never see this rescuer's face despite seeing everything else clearly. Since that day, the experience fundamentally changed his religious beliefs and relationship with death, making him see God as infinitely greater than any earthly religion describes.
