Nicholas fell through a tobacco barn roof 27 feet, hitting his head and losing consciousness for 3-4 minutes. When he prayed not to die in front of his father who was "screwed up enough," he returned through a tunnel of expanding light with disturbing moaning sounds. He suffered severe injuries including broken teeth, back, arm, and torn muscles requiring surgeries. When he told his father and coworkers weeks later, they turned pale with goosebumps, confirming every detail though he was unconscious. The experience eliminated his fear of death and strengthened his Christian faith.
