Thirteen-year-old Marcy was returning home with her family from a drive-in movie when a drunk driver swerved into their lane, causing a near head-on collision. Her father tried to swerve away, but Marcy's side of the vehicle took the full impact. From her perspective, everything happened in slow motion despite occurring extremely fast. She lost consciousness with severe injuries including facial lacerations from broken glass, glass in her eyes, head trauma, and other bodily injuries requiring emergency treatment.
During the accident, Marcy found herself in complete darkness that felt warm and enveloping. She was floating in this darkness, feeling safe and comfortable despite being a little scared. The darkness was like having her eyes closed at night before they adjust. Looking up, she saw a warm golden-white light positioned above her at an angle to the right. She felt strongly drawn toward this light and wanted to move toward it. Then she heard a telepathic voice that didn't frighten her but rather comforted her with the knowledge she wasn't alone. The voice told her it wasn't her time to go yet, that she was just a child with her whole life ahead of her, and she had to return to consciousness. Though Marcy felt this made sense and understood what was being communicated, she was told rather than choosing to return. The communication was entirely telepathic, crystal clear despite the darkness around her. She felt incredible peace and happiness, no longer in conflict with nature, and most importantly, felt deeply loved during the experience. When Marcy returned to consciousness, she was in the car wreckage with blood and glass everywhere. People were trying to pull her out while she struggled to open her eyes and understand what had happened. She experienced no pain during the NDE, either before or during the otherworldly experience. The event left her with lasting effects including acute intuition and premonitions in dreams, though her religious views shifted from Catholic to agnostic while maintaining belief in God the Creator.
