Yolanda attempted suicide after her ex-husband won full custody of their young daughter following molestation allegations, with the judge declaring she would never see her daughter again. Unable to bear this devastating loss, she attempted to take her life and experienced clinical death requiring life support. During this crisis, she found herself hovering above the officers, paramedics, and her own body. She turned to an adjacent officer and yelled "I'm dying!" but realized he was completely unfazed by her scream.
Looking down at herself, Yolanda watched the paramedics administering life support. She then realized she was watching herself die from an out-of-body perspective. Most remarkably, she could see that her consciousness had taken the form of an electric-blue light orb with a tail of blue light. She observed the medical procedures being performed, specifically noting the administration of life support being inserted down her throat. She felt anger and then confusion during the experience. Despite the entirely distressing nature of the experience, it provided Yolanda with certain knowledge that the soul lives on after death. She describes herself as an atheist both before and after the experience, but now knows there is life after death, though she remains uncertain whether this is a natural occurrence or a metaphysical phenomenon. The experience was brief and simple, with no encounter with beings, no tunnel, no divine presence, and no positive emotions. She was contained within the room and could not hover past the walls. Years passed before she shared this experience with anyone.
