Thomas, a police officer, was involved in a car accident while on duty. Pinned in his cruiser and bleeding out after extraction, he was airlifted to the hospital. In the helicopter, his heart stopped while receiving blood transfusions. The flight crew began CPR, with the nurse saying "You're not going to die on my bird, not on my shift." Thomas lifted out of his body and watched the crew working on him, observing them insert a tube in his mouth, apply a tourniquet to his right leg and hip, and perform chest compressions.
Turning around, he saw intense blackness and a tunnel with a bright, warm, inviting white light. Being pulled toward the light, he felt at peace. Within the light, he saw people on both sides of the tunnel - on the left were those he had wronged, on the right were those he had helped, loved ones, and deceased pets. He was thrust into a large room with crowds moving about and approached a counter where a man with a beautiful, illuminated book asked for his legal name. After checking the book, the man said telepathically, "Nope, your time has not expired yet." His grandfather, who had died 6 years prior, appeared and took him outside to an amazing pond with pure, radiating water. The sunrise created indescribable colors, and Thomas felt God's presence, angels, and heard incredible music. His grandfather explained this was heaven but couldn't show him God as it wasn't his time. He was told returning would hurt temporarily. Thomas died twice in the helicopter for 4 minutes each time (8 minutes total), though the experience felt like hours. After waking from a 10-day medically induced coma, Thomas shared his experience with doctors, leading to a chaplain visit. The experience led him to become a devout Catholic and enter seminary 5 years later.
