Thomas underwent brain surgery on March 30, 2021. When anesthesia was administered, he heard an extremely loud gong in his head. He then floated above his body, watching frenzied doctors working on him. Knowing things weren't going well, he felt called elsewhere and walked through what seemed like a veil into another realm where he saw a sea of orbs with translucent bodies - all his deceased family and friends. A close friend who had died 20+ years earlier gave him an intense, prolonged hug.
A door appeared on his left that he recognized as his "pain and anguish" door. His deceased loved ones went through this door, kicking down all the hallways behind it, releasing a massive wave of stored pain. A bar appeared overhead that sprayed energy over him, and a black puddle formed beside him - the guilt he had carried that wasn't his to bear. His friend told him to let it go. He experienced massive feelings of acceptance, understanding, and love while surrounded by white light. Hundreds of voices spoke to him telepathically, confirming things he already suspected. He was given a choice to stay or return, and chose to come back. He apparently left his body twice - once for 5 minutes, then again for another 5 minutes. Upon waking in recovery, his surgeon informed him the surgery was canceled because "things went sideways." All the doctors looked shell-shocked with wide eyes. The experience left him unable to get angry anymore, more accepting of the world, and able to visit deceased family and friends when needed. He came back with the question: "Is it possible for humanity to love and accept each other without judgment?"
