Kim underwent a cesarean section delivery on October 19, 2005, which was complicated by severe postpartum hemorrhaging. The medical team was unable to control the vaginal bleeding, and Kim began experiencing weakness and dizziness. She felt as though she would pass out despite already lying down. The severity of the hemorrhage necessitated emergency exploratory surgery to locate and stop the source of bleeding.
As medical staff rushed Kim back to the operating room, she experienced a profound spiritual event. She became surrounded by an extraordinary bright light that came from every direction, not just from above. The light seemed to engulf her completely, bringing with it the most peaceful feeling she had ever experienced - a peace she describes as indescribable and unlike anything before or since. Within this light, Kim received a clear message that she had a choice: she could leave the earth or stay with her family. During this experience, Kim became aware of her husband and newborn baby in the hospital room, either seeing them or knowing with certainty they were there despite her physical absence. She made the conscious decision to stay on earth with them. She then woke up in recovery after the emergency surgery. The medical crisis was severe - Kim remained hospitalized for a week and required five blood transfusions to recover from the massive blood loss. The experience strengthened her Christian faith and removed any fear of death, giving her certainty about God and Heaven. She now lives with the knowledge that it was not yet her time and that she has a purpose to fulfill on earth with her family.
