Shayne was at a friend's house inhaling butane gas with three friends when he felt his arm flop down and heard someone say they'd have to take the can away. He lost consciousness and began convulsing and drooling for 15 minutes according to his friends.
His eyes suddenly appeared in the corner of the ceiling, taking 15-20 seconds to realize he was looking into the room from that exact corner. He could distinguish the different lengths of the wall-ceiling lines and colors, looking down these lines in the rectangular room. He was scared he couldn't see himself - either he and his chair were invisible or the trauma made looking for himself insignificant. He repeatedly tried shutting and opening his eyes but remained in the corner. Most remarkably, he saw one friend in two different locations simultaneously - standing in the doorway leaning against the frame AND sitting on the three-seat lounge chair, both wearing the same clothes. This double vision suggested he was seeing different time points as his brain died and tried to resynchronize. He heard his grandfather's voice say "It's not your time yet" and felt pulled out of a thick gelatin-like substance. He returned to find his friends reporting he had been convulsing and drooling for 15 minutes. The experience left him spiritual, believing in life after death, and he has since had many paranormal and UFO experiences. He never repeated the drug use and believes he was given another chance to be a better human.
