At age six, Harry's older sister slammed a tree house trap door on his head as he climbed the ladder, causing him to fall to the ground. He experienced an immediate out-of-body state, finding himself back at the top of the ladder looking down at his crumpled body below. Everything appeared different with no physical weight, and he observed faint glowing auras emanating several inches around all objects and people. From his elevated perspective about one to two stories high, he watched his father become angry and his mother go into hysterics as the adults panicked. He could see their mouths moving but heard only silence. He observed them carry his body into the house and lay it on his parents' bed. When someone felt along his spine, everything went black and he awoke in severe pain. He suffered lasting problems with his lower back and neck. During the experience, he felt puzzled by being in two places at once but had no fear, feeling perfectly fine, light as a feather, and at peace. The experience launched him on a lifelong spiritual path.
