Denise B experienced two cardiac arrests during a bowel resection surgery in December 2015. The first occurred at home when Dulcolax depleted her potassium and magnesium, stopping her heart. During this arrest, she observed EMTs from outside her body, sitting on the floor waving at them through the window while they could not see her. She watched her body on the floor and heard specific medical communications including "no heartbeat" and "BP of 48 over 24" then "no BP." She observed them prepare Atropine, viewed the scene from multiple perspectives including sitting on her roof edge, and even traveled to her home six miles away to observe her grandmother. Upon resuscitation, she accurately recounted everything the EMTs said. The second arrest occurred in the hospital when her heart monitor alarmed. She observed from above as the nurse gave her a bolus, seeing extraordinarily vivid green colors on the monitor. She correctly told medical staff what medications were needed and asked about medical terms she had learned while unconscious. Multiple witnesses confirmed her observations.
