Seventeen-year-old Robin was riding a horse to a parade ground event when the frisky horse threw her off after she felt his back arch. Her only thought while flying through the air was to avoid getting her feet caught in the stirrups. She hit the pavement face-first with no memory of the actual impact. Immediately after, she found herself way above her body, positioned in a tree, with a light behind her. She saw herself on the ground below but felt no concern, maintaining a detached and unconcerned emotional state. Another rider was screaming and yelling, though Robin couldn't understand what she was saying. She remained in the tree for what seemed like a long time, observing the scene below. A significant aspect of her experience was the bright light behind her, which she sensed deeply - she knew that if she turned around toward the light, she would not return to her body. She made a conscious decision not to leave and to return to her body, motivated by her strong desire to join the Navy. The next thing she remembered was kneeling on the ground, holding her mouth and wondering if she still had her teeth. Despite the severe facial trauma from hitting pavement face-first, her injuries were remarkably not life-threatening, though her face was severely damaged. The experience left her feeling united with the world and without fear of death, ultimately leading to a successful 28-year Navy career that she felt was her purpose for being on Earth.
