Rick attempted to remove what he thought was a honey bee hive while waiting for property management, but it turned out to be killer bees. The bees attacked him and his neighbor. After firefighters responded, a paramedic noted he looked swollen and hurt, but Rick declined hospital transport. He went home, took a shower and pain pills, then went to bed. His brother's cat began meowing in an unusual tone, keeping him awake. When he got up, he was experiencing anaphylactic shock and going in and out of consciousness. He experienced a dark void while using the restroom but decided to just go back to bed. The cat's continued unusual meowing caught his brother's attention, who saw Rick's condition and drove him to the hospital. During the COVID-19 pandemic, admission took longer. The nurse gave him shots for the bee stings and he was placed in a room for observation. When Rick closed his eyes, he was transported to another world where desert and forest met. He was standing on a hill watching either a sunrise or sunset. He felt like he was home and at peace, experiencing a sensation of no time, though in reality he was only there briefly. The place felt like it was part of him or like returning home to a past or present existence. He heard what seemed like classical music. Upon waking, he felt like he had slept extremely well. However, he became depressed afterward because he wanted to go back, while simultaneously gaining a different perspective on life. The experience felt like being on a different planet, a place impossible to find on Earth.
