Cassandra experienced an NDE during a psychedelic mushroom journey when she accidentally stopped breathing, likely from rebreathing air in an air mattress crevice. She had taken mushrooms medicinally for CPTSD treatment and was alone in her room with safety preparations. During the journey, while processing mother trauma, she suddenly felt pulled from her body unexpectedly. She floated to a golden room without boundaries filled with faceless spirit guides who radiated love and peace. Initially angry about being brought there without choice, she lectured them about the unfairness of subjecting her to trauma. The guides agreed and offered to let her stay. When she accepted, they showed her the consequences - a tornado-like vision of her funeral, her husband finding her body, grieving loved ones, and her unborn daughter who would never exist. Seeing this devastation, she told them she could not stay. She was violently thrust back into her body, pushed up from her stomach gasping for air, finding herself blue and struggling to find her heartbeat. Her husband came home to help, eventually finding a faint pulse. The mushroom journey resumed but was harsh and glitchy. She spent weeks recovering with severe body aches. Despite the trauma, she feels grateful for gaining consent to be in her body, something she never felt she had before. She continues using mushrooms medicinally but never alone.
