In 1970, 19-year-old Arazdordi T was on a swimming excursion at the Caspian Sea with four friends. They were playing a throwing game where the person thrown would be tossed high in the air into the water, then others would swim away to avoid being caught. As the smallest of the group, Arazdordi was thrown exceptionally high. Upon descending, he landed headfirst with his head becoming lodged in the sand. Unable to free himself, his struggles only resulted in sinking deeper. As breathing constriction intensified, he felt transitory sharp chest pain followed by suffocation.
He then transitioned into a state of calmness devoid of pain. He saw a panoramic realm characterized by radiant light - a boundless and luminous space where he encountered a multitude of smiling baby faces greeting him with waves of welcome. Among these angelic visages, he observed his entire life encapsulated within a single snapshot. These images represented purity, divine holiness, and unparalleled beauty. He recognized all the faces not by name but as his long-deceased ancestors who had come to greet him. They waved with their smiling angelic baby faces, inviting him to join them. The experience felt eternal, lasting a whole lifetime, and he wanted to stay forever. He was suddenly awakened by an impact on his chest - his friend Moraddordi was crying with hands on his chest. He began coughing out sand, mud, and salty water, surrounded by relieved friends. Moraddordi had seen his toes sticking up, immediately recognized the problem, and alerted others. They pulled him from the sea floor and carried him to shore where he began breathing again after initially showing no signs of life. The divine baby faces became permanently imprinted in his mind. The experience left him unafraid of dying and believing in the continuum of life and ancestral connection.
