On March 17, 1966, Amy M, age 23, gave birth to a son at 1 a.m. in a Catholic Hospital. Eight hours later, filled with gratitude for her baby surviving to full term after previous complications, she walked down the hall to receive Communion when it was announced over the loudspeaker. Halfway down the hallway, she became wobbly and collapsed, initially thinking she would faint (having fainted several times before as a child, she knew the difference between fainting and what she was about to experience).
After losing consciousness, Amy found herself in a soft, slowly swirling, black silky "whirlpool" that was drawing her forward. She could see a circular area of light in the distance, describing it as being in a tunnel though it wasn't narrow and she couldn't discern a ceiling. As she approached the light, she noticed 5 or 6 dark shadow-like vertical figures standing in a group to one side of the circular light area. Though she heard nothing from these beings, she somehow KNEW one was definitely her deceased maternal grandmother who had died May 6, 1956. She experienced indescribable ultimate peace unlike anything in life. As she got closer to the light and beings, she suddenly heard a voice in her head saying "NO, GO BACK, IT'S NOT TIME YET." The voice didn't come from the beings and she didn't know its source. Despite having just been exceedingly happy about her new baby, she definitely did NOT want to go back. She woke on the hospital floor hearing herself saying repeatedly "NO, NO, I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK" while Code 99 alarms were going off with many doctors and nurses around her. Her husband believed her completely when she told him hours later, saying it sounded like a near-death experience. The experience convinced her that afterlife exists and has remained as real to her over the decades as when it occurred.
