Jennifer, age 8, fell through an uncovered chimney hole during house construction in August 1978, landing on her neck where the spinal column joins the brain stem. The fall was from two floors above the basement onto freshly steamrolled ground. She initially felt cold and scared in complete blackness except for a pinhole of light. She moved through a tunnel toward increasing light, feeling incredible warmth. A figure with outstretched arms appeared in brilliant light, emanating unprecedented acceptance and love. When her mother screamed her name, the figure's arms crossed and pushed her back through the darkness. She awoke with severe lung burning as paramedics arrived. Despite doctors' predictions of paralysis and brain damage, she recovered completely without even bruising.
