During open heart surgery on June 16, 2003, Dan experienced clinical death and found himself outside of Creation in a gray immensity with perfect silence. He perceived all of Creation as if in a crystal ball, wrapped by a Being of stunning majesty from whom all life grew. He saw innumerable other Creations, each with similar Beings. He understood that every living thing was an expression of this Being, connected and indivisible. He was shown the interconnection of everything from galactic clusters to quantum fluctuations, understanding his own place and purpose in Creation. He experienced Intelligence, Awareness and Joy. For days afterward, he had heightened sensitivity and visions of other people, places, times, and possible futures including seeing his wife in alternate realities and potential deaths of family members.
