Janine experienced a profound NDE at age 3 in 1969 when she drowned after walking off a pier trying to retrieve her pink bounce ball. She walked into the ocean with water above her head, standing on the ocean floor without fear. No one was watching her at the time.
She then found herself standing above the water, observing her body lying on the beach with her parents and family members kneeling over her, upset and trying to save her life. A tall figure stood beside her - taller than average, feeling older and more intelligent. She never turned to look at this figure who felt more like a guide than family. They both belonged where they were and felt the same way about her family below. She possessed higher intelligence than a 3-year-old would normally have, feeling this was the real her from where she really came. She felt nothing for the people on the beach despite knowing they loved her and were scared. She felt she didn't belong with them because their existence was confusing, complicated, and less than her true existence. They lacked the knowledge she had. Where she stood felt real and like home, with both her and the figure having greater awareness than her earthly family. She understood she would have to return, with the figure giving her that understanding. A very loud clap like thunder sounded, and she was back in her body, coughing up water, shaking violently, wet, cold, and crying while seeking her family's safety. For years afterward when bullied, she would cry in her room saying "I want to come home. Why won't you let me come home? I don't want to stay here" before falling asleep and waking feeling fine. The experience remains vivid over 50 years later.
