Jamie experienced an NDE in 2007 while working at his ranch with his wife. Using a hand-held grinder on the back porch, the tool jammed, kicked back, and hit his hand, exposing the bone and tendons of his thumb. Due to a tendency to faint with serious injuries, he told his wife he needed to sit down and then fainted. His wife found him not breathing with no pulse and administered CPR to revive him.
During the experience, Jamie felt he was home in a perfect state. Though he didn't have eyesight, he could see perfectly - like seeing with his mind or soul. He understood everything but didn't remember anything about his earthly life. He was simply enjoying the feeling of being where he was supposed to be. The experience felt connected to recurring dreams from ages 1-4 where he would understand the reason and meaning of everything, though upon waking could never remember the answer. Something began nagging at him for attention, like a child trying to get attention while you're concentrating. The feeling grew stronger and more annoying until he realized it was his wife calling his name. When he recognized her voice, he came back into his body, initially very upset and angry about returning. He didn't want to come back and felt he was at his real home in that other state. After revival, his wife said she thought he was dead when he collapsed. Jamie immediately told her about the experience and how perfect it felt there. Since then, he lives knowing where he's going when he dies - his real home where everything feels perfect. He has no fear of death and believes all faiths are human interpretations of the same afterlife. The experience convinced him that souls live on and return home to what must be heaven.
