Norman was 19 years old returning from an Alice Cooper concert in Las Vegas with a friend, both drunk and stoned. The driver turned too sharply on a freeway onramp, causing the car to roll down a 40-foot embankment at least 5 times. Norman was ejected from the car (no seatbelts in 1979) and broke his back in three places. He would have died if wearing a seatbelt as the car hood crushed below the steering wheel. He blacked out as they rolled and found himself walking toward a bright light. He experienced a peaceful life review, seeing his entire life from infancy through the concert - including being turned upside down as a baby by the doctor. He heard an unidentifiable voice saying it wasn't his time and he still had things to do. He felt like he was on "cloud 9" in this peaceful state. When his soul returned to his body, he awoke yelling for his friend and felt complete numbness from the waist down. About 10 minutes later, emergency responders arrived despite no cell phones existing then. The experience transformed his beliefs - at 19 he didn't believe in the afterlife, but now knows there is a heaven after experiencing the life review and feeling such peace and warmth.
