Nerise had just given birth to her first child when she experienced a uterine rupture. After standing up to use the restroom, she felt an immense rush of blood and saw it on the floor, thinking "That's not right." She heard a nurse yelling for a crash cart before entering a warm, comfortable darkness - not the scary kind of dark she usually feared, but cozy like a warm hug. She couldn't see or hear anything but felt no fear, experiencing it as a void that was full of love and comfort. She was in a place without stress or fears, knowing she was surrounded by love in this darkness. Time seemed to stop existing in this peaceful state. She later regained consciousness on the cold bathroom floor and called for an ambulance. Her mother later told her she thought she had lost her forever. The experience inspired Nerise to become a registered nurse at age 23. She no longer fears death and always remembers how comforting the experience was, knowing she was okay without any fear at all.
