Lizette was with a friend who was experiencing opioid withdrawal after a failed hiking trip. Against her better judgment, she agreed to try snorting a small portion of an opioid pill at her friend's urging, having only tried one orally before which made her sick. After snorting the substance in a parking lot, she immediately felt intense tingling throughout her body and knew she had taken too much. She then experienced an out-of-body perspective, seeing herself sitting in the passenger seat from above and to the right, as if floating above the driver. Everything then went dark. She awoke in an ambulance with two paramedics, one kind and one harsh. The harsh paramedic told her she was the third overdose of the day. The kind paramedic explained that the fire department had saved her life and that it was very close - they thought she wouldn't make it. The experience left her with mixed feelings about meditation and prayer, avoiding practices she once regularly engaged in.
