Nicholas G has Pulmonary Fibrosis with 40% lung capacity and experienced multiple suffocation episodes in October 2022. During sleep, his nose clogged and mouth failed to open, causing actual suffocation that became incorporated into his dream. The dream landscape systematically drained of color to ashen grey as his body shut down. Upon realizing he was dying, he looked upward at the blue sky, became lucid, felt alive again, and his human ego "switched off." A tunnel formed overhead drawing him in at high speed, with black walls pulsating with golden light leading to brilliant golden light at the end. A soothing voice coached him through breathing as his heart seized. He was aware of his body flailing but considered it merely a husk. At the tunnel's end, he reached a 500-foot wall of golden light - the veil between worlds. He sensed overwhelming goodwill, happiness, and many friendly souls beyond. Images showed morphing clouds turning into grand halls and vistas of what awaited him. Despite desperately wanting to cross over, he chose to return, believing it would offend God to leave prematurely. The experience repeated when he fell back asleep, with more visions of the afterlife. Nicholas, a Buddhist, lost all fear of death and gained certainty about God's existence, describing God as coaching him back to life. He now feels divinely guided and eagerly anticipates his eventual crossing.
