Mimi D has atrial fibrillation and experienced a near-death event in October 2018. After a stressful day including a 3-hour phone conversation while gardening in summer heat, she came inside unable to breathe. She ripped chains from her neck and could hear bits of conversation but couldn't talk or see. In the ambulance, she watched from above as the blonde ambulance lady said "We've lost her!" to the dark-haired driver who pulled over. Mimi felt peaceful and intrigued, standing/hovering behind the woman trying to revive her. Her deceased mother was present, appearing neither young nor old but different than in life. They communicated without words through a knowing connection, experiencing something beautiful beyond description. Mimi and her mother watched the resuscitation together before both turned to leave, at which point Mimi was sent back - she jokes her mother "kicked her butt" back into her body. She heard the paramedic say "She's back!" and was placed on life support. Her first words upon waking at 8:30pm were "I was with my mum." The experience left her yearning for that incredible feeling of becoming a higher being, part of a universe beyond imagination. Two months later, she understood her purpose in returning when her story helped a young man grieving his friend's death. Since then, people are drawn to her and her story helps them heal. The NDE fundamentally changed who she is, leaving her without fear of death and part of her still connected to that realm.
