Donna May experienced a near-death event when her estranged husband attempted to murder her through strangulation on December 28, 2008. Without speaking verbally, her mother beckoned to her with hand gestures, waving her forward as if saying "Come to me." Donna May responded mentally, screaming "I can't, Mom. I have to stay here with Nate!" Understanding her daughter's fierce maternal devotion and knowing she wouldn't intentionally fight back, her mother's beckoning had a profound effect. The refusal to join her mother caused Donna May to wave her arms in rejection, unknowingly scratching her attacker's face severely without feeling anything. Her hand caught something wet - his mouth - which she pulled with all her might, finally breaking free from his grip. The police response was traumatic; she was handcuffed, denied warm clothing, and ultimately arrested for domestic violence based on her ex-husband's fabricated complaint, despite being the victim of attempted murder. She spent hours in custody without water or basic care, developing severe PTSD. The experience confirmed for Donna May that her mother continues to love and protect her from the other side. She also describes an earlier profound experience at age 18 when a masculine voice she identifies as God or her Guardian Angel saved her from a fatal car accident, placing a hand on her shoulder and instructing her to pull aside, then saying "Fear not. I am with you." Her vehicle miraculously passed through a busy five-point intersection during rush hour without brakes, stopping safely near police officers. These experiences left her with absolute certainty about divine protection and the continuation of love after death.
