David underwent spinal surgery following a car accident, with the operation initially appearing successful. However, in the post-operative ward with five other patients, he was awakened by his monitoring machine alarm sounding with all readings showing blank. A young nurse rushed in, checked the machine, and ran for help. Multiple medical staff arrived with replacement equipment, closing the curtains around his bed as they worked to revive him from apparent cardiac arrest.
During this crisis, David experienced a profound separation from linear time and physical reality. He found himself sitting up observing the scene with 360-degree vision, like having fish-eye lenses, able to see everything simultaneously. He was intensely aware that he was no longer part of the medical team's world but existed in a different dimension where linear time was irrelevant. He felt he could fast-forward or rewind time at will but chose to observe the unfolding events. An older nurse with dyed blonde hair showing dark roots constantly spoke in his left ear, repeating "Come on David, stay with us." The most remarkable aspect occurred when the closed curtains suddenly opened and two small, swarthy men in shabby clothes appeared, standing and observing him. Their unexpected entrance diverted his attention from the medical team. One man smiled and communicated telepathically with an inquisitive gesture, asking "Well, are you coming?" David declined the offer and everything went blank. He awoke mid-morning surrounded by medical staff, with the other five ward patients staring at him with mixture of trepidation, fear, and awe. The older nurse who had been speaking to him waited until other staff left before leaning in close to say, "You had us really worried last night David, you had us really worried." The experience left him with an unshakeable conviction about the continuation of consciousness after death, God's existence, and that he has unfinished business to complete before his final departure. He interprets the two mysterious visitors as angels and feels the experience confirmed his prayers before surgery to survive for his young children.
