Daniel experienced a major heart attack on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at 10:30 PM. He was taken to the hospital and placed on a table where medical staff attached monitor and defibrillator stickers to his chest and back. Suddenly overcome by extreme fatigue, he found himself unable to keep his eyes open despite trying with all his might. As his eyelids closed in what felt like entering a heavy sleep, his heart stopped for a full minute, as later confirmed by his doctor.
The moment his eyes closed, Daniel found himself standing barefoot on golden steps, looking down at his feet. The steps were magnificent - four or five in number, thirty feet in length and three and a half feet wide with railings on either end, leading down into an extraordinary garden. He immediately noticed his chest no longer hurt and felt wonderful, describing it as a "perfect nothingness." The scene before him was unlike anything earthly - huge trees in a crescent formation about 200 yards away with white bark and pink leaves, gold lace hanging from their tops with embedded gold stars. The environment was surreal yet peaceful. The sky was pink, and when he looked for familiar things like birds, there were none. The garden below had no grass but was covered with gold lace, pink leaves, tree trimmings, and a steel wool-like substance with light emanating up through the ground. Despite his bare feet and the seemingly rough texture, he knew it couldn't be scratchy and was preparing to walk down into this mystical garden. He turned to his left, remembering his entire life, friends, successes, and failures, but realized none of it mattered because he was no longer there but in this new place. Daniel was awakened by a doctor shaking his shoulder, informing him his heart had stopped. Using a stopwatch later, he timed his recollection of the experience at one minute and one second - matching the duration of his cardiac arrest. He shares his story daily with multiple people, finding that it gives them hope. As a born-again Christian, he believes his faith enabled this glimpse of heaven, interpreting the golden steps and garden as God's personal creation for his joy. The experience solidified his faith in Christ and left him without fear of death.
