Dave experienced a heart attack on November 27, 2015, with chest pain initially dismissed as heartburn. When symptoms returned more intensely with cold sweats and nausea, he called 911. While paramedics attended to him, he progressively lost hearing, peripheral vision, and feeling in his arms before falling unconscious. His heart stopped for one minute due to 95% blockage of the left coronary artery. Upon clinical death, Dave felt himself being "peeled out" of his body and awakening in another realm with overwhelming awareness. He found himself surrounded by a green mist with low-level light coming from behind it, sitting in a transparent form where he could see green background through his outline and colored veins running through his legs. Realizing he had died, he felt wrapped in warm fog without pain, incredibly conscious and aware with millions of thoughts racing through his mind. Though amazed by the peaceful beauty, he wasn't ready to leave the physical world and sat hoping for revival. After what felt like 20 minutes but was actually one minute, he fell asleep in that realm and awoke back in his body as paramedics revived him. He received two stents and recovered fully. The experience eliminated most of his fear of death, made him more compassionate, and confirmed that consciousness survives bodily death, though he remains agnostic but more open-minded.
